World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan, former England white-ball captain, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket last year and has now decided to retire from other forms of the game as well. Morgan last played competitive cricket in January for Paarl Royals in the newly formed SA20 League. He will now continue his cricket career as an announcer.

"After much consideration, I believe now is the right time to step away from the game that has given me so much over the years," Morgan wrote on his official Twitter account.

Morgan captained England in a record 126 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 72 Twenty20 Internationals (T20s) in 2019. His 118 wins as captain in both formats is also a record. He leaves with a host of records including most ODI runs for England (6,957), most T20I runs for England (2,458) and most sixes for England in both formats.

Morgan, who made his ODI debut for Ireland as a 16-year-old in 2006 before being called up by England in 2009, played 248 ODIs and 115 T20Is, totaling 10,159 runs. He also appeared in 16 Tests and scored 700 runs. Morgan was a member of the two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Kolkata Knight Riders.
